Modern warships ranked matches are the most team-cooperation-demanding mode in the game, with the rank directly determining the quality of rewards. To help newcomers quickly climb the ranks, this article provides an introduction to the ranked match mechanism in Modern Warships. The ranking system in the game is relatively simple, with some small tricks. Below, we will share how points are calculated, how to choose ships, and how to play to steadily increase your rank.

The ranked tiers are divided into three major segments: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, with each segment further divided into three sub-segments (for example, Bronze 1 to Bronze 3). In the Gold tier, only X-level ships (such as the Zumwalt) can be used; in the Silver tier, VI-VII level ships (such as the Horizon class) are used; and in the Bronze tier, III-V level ships (such as the 055) are used. Winning a match adds one star, while losing a match deducts one star, but in the Gold tier, the entire team loses stars upon defeat. In the Bronze tier, the top two players in a losing match do not lose stars, and in the Silver tier, the first place in a losing match does not lose stars. It is recommended to start practicing from the Bronze tier if you want to climb the ranks.

In the Bronze tier, blindly choosing the 055 or Kirov is advisable, as the 055 has strong overall capabilities, and the Kirov boasts high missile burst damage. For the Silver tier, the Horizon class or the Sovremenny class are good choices, with the Horizon having fast-firing main guns and the Sovremenny class being lethal with torpedoes at close range. In the Gold tier, the Zumwalt or Peter the Great are must-picks, with the Zumwalt excelling in stealthy missile attacks and Peter the Great being tough to take down. Never choose heavy carriers like the Kuznetsov, as they won't last more than two minutes in ranked matches.
In ranked matches, there are fewer submarines and aircraft, so anti-submarine rocket launchers are not necessary; prioritize stacking missiles and main guns. Choose the BrahMos (high damage at close range) or Tomahawk (long-range harassment) for missiles, and the OTO 76 (fast-firing) or railgun (strong armor penetration) for main guns. For air defense, bring the HQ-10 (missile interception) or Pantsir-M (aircraft defense). In the Gold tier, it's essential to carry smoke grenades to escape when under concentrated fire.

The ranked map is fixed in the Sea Control mode, and it's recommended to play on the Storm or Arctic maps. The Storm map has no mountains or islands, so rush to the center point at the start and use rocket launchers to bombard enemies. On the Arctic map, move as a group and prioritize targeting fragile destroyers. When encountering battleships, circle around them instead of engaging head-on. In the Gold tier, frequently use the Zumwalt's stealth to ambush enemies and retreat after attacking.
For solo queue, it's recommended to play versatile ships like the 055 or Horizon, as random teammates often don't cooperate. In a squad, it's best to have an air defense ship (like the 054A) and a submarine, with the air defense ship protecting teammates and the submarine providing vision. If you find a teammate AFK, report them immediately; a successful report can earn you an extra star.

The core of ranked matches boils down to two points: choosing the right ship and playing as a team. Use the Bronze and Silver tiers to hone your skills, and in the Gold tier, coordination is key. Don't be greedy for kills; prioritizing survival is crucial, as losing matches results in significant point deductions. It's better to steadily accumulate rewards. Following this strategy, you can easily get all the crates every week.
