As a naval adventure RPG, the Age of Great Voyages features various powerful enemy ships that players will encounter while exploring the seas. Among them, the Thistle becomes a nightmare for new players due to its unique escort mechanism. Today, I will share how to defeat the Thistle in the Age of Great Voyages. This boss itself has average firepower but is surrounded by multiple Spanish escort ships, making a direct assault extremely risky and likely to result in a team wipe. This guide will provide a detailed analysis of the core tactics, including phased luring and defeating enemies one by one, to help you pass efficiently.

The key to the battle against the Thistle lies in breaking up its escort fleet. At the start of the fight, players will notice 5-6 Spanish warships around the Thistle, which will prioritize attacking any friendly NPC ships that get too close. It's crucial not to rush in at this point; instead, maintain a medium distance (about half a screen away) and use long-range cannons (such as long-barreled cannons) to target and attack the outermost enemy ship. Once hit, the targeted enemy ship will break formation to chase the player, at which point you should quickly create distance and lure it to the edge of the battlefield for a 1v1 confrontation.

The first phase requires repeating the above operation at least twice. It's recommended to prioritize attacking the lighter escort ships on the flanks (such as Caravel-class), as these have lower health and poor maneuverability, making them easier to isolate. With each enemy ship sunk, the Thistle's defensive circle will weaken. When only 3 escort ships remain, their AI will begin to move erratically, allowing your fleet to briefly concentrate fire and quickly eliminate 1-2 remaining escorts, setting the stage for the final assault.

In the final phase, the Thistle will be exposed to the player's firepower. Note that its main cannons have a short range (about 200 yards), so players can approach within 150 yards to unleash full power, while using friendly NPC ships to draw the remaining escort fire. It is recommended to use high-explosive ammunition (such as chain shot) to attack the Thistle's masts, reducing its mobility and preventing it from reassembling its remnants. If your health is low, temporarily retreat to the edge of the battlefield and wait for allied ships to distract before rejoining the fight. During the early luring phase, it is advisable to retain at least 80% of your ammunition to ensure a strong output in the later stages; if the escort ships are not effectively divided, it's better to abandon the current round and reorganize. After victory, the Thistle will drop the rare ship material "Spanish Gilded Armor," which significantly boosts ship durability and is worth farming repeatedly.

The battle against the Thistle is essentially a test of tactical execution. Through precise luring and concentrated fire, players can overcome this formidable foe with minimal losses. Mastering the strategy of phased dismantling of enemy fleets will allow you to apply similar tactics in other multi-target sea battles, helping you dominate the seven seas!
